DescriptionPhotograph, Black and white; Official horizontal image of a Vought F8U-1P Photo Crusader on the starboard side steam catapult. The plane is numbered, “924” and is from VFP-62 (Det. 33). The plane has an catapult launch bridle attached and the variable incidence wing is in the raised position. A blast shield is raised behind the plane. There are crew members wearing shirts of various colors in cloth helmets and protective earmuffs on the right side of the image, in the center of the deck. A Skyhawk is visible on the right side of the photograph. The island is in the center of the background of the image. There are flags hanging from the island.
