DescriptionHelmet, Aviator's; U.S. Navy APH-6A white flight helmet with a green fabric and yellow and orange leather chinstrap, black microphone, and black radio wires. There are designs on the exterior of the helmet in red orange reflective tape in the shape of a "3" on the left side, a trident on the right side, and stripes throughout. The trident is the insignia of helicopter anti-submarine squadron HS-3. One dark visor is retracted in the helmet and can be lowered with a white dial at the top center of the helmet. A partial blue and gold U.S. Naval Aviator insignia decal, also referred to as wings of gold, is attached to the front center of the helmet. The decal depicts outstretched wings. The striped shield on top of a fouled anchor in the center is missing. There is a white label on the back exterior at bottom center. Blue text printed on the label reads "APH-6A Helmet, Large Size // FSN 8475-078-4738 LF50 // Modified In Accordance With // Nas Norva Les Gen 13/20". There is one strip of green embossing tape below the label. The white text printed on the tape reads "PJ Cross". The microphone has "Talk // With Lips // Touching // Mic" and "MT-522 A/U" and "MT 521 A/U // CCOS" printed on it. The microphone cord plug has "A // PJ-292" printed on either side of it. The radio wire has a green fabric strap and a silver label attached to it. The printed text on the label reads "78717 // P/O H-87 A/U".The interior has brown leather padding, one green strap with a yellow and orange pad, foam interior, and two brown leather earpieces on either side. Each earpiece has an upside down "2" enclosed in a circle printed in white ink on it.
