Lawrence N. Guarino

American, 1922 - 2014
BiographyCol. Lawrence N. Guarino was a pilot with the U.S. Air Force. He was shot down June 14, 1965, while serving in the Vietnam War. He was captured and served more than eight years as a prisoner of war in North Vietnam. He spent time in the Hanoi Hilton and shared a prison cell with future senator John McCain. Guarino was released on February 12, 1973. He wrote the book "A POW's Story: 2801 Days in Hanoi" about his experiences. He passed away on August 17, 2014. See text entries for more information.
