BiographyJohn Lawrence "Larry" Donoghue served on board the aircraft carrier USS Intrepid (CV-11) as an engineering officer with Fighting Squadron 18 (VF-18) during World War II. While aboard Intrepid, he was an ensign and oversaw aircraft maintenance for his squadron. After leaving the Navy in 1946, Donoghue remained in the Navy Reserve for 22 years, retiring as a captain. He also worked for Ralph Burke, and one of their projects involved working on the design for O’Hare Airport.
