Gilbert J. Farmer

BiographyGilbert J. Farmer served on board the aircraft carrier USS Intrepid (CV-11) as an aviation chief radioman (ACRM) with Bombing Squadron 6 (VB-6) in early 1944. Farmer was lost on February 16, 1944 while flying as a radioman in a SBD Dauntless. The squadron was conducting a strike mission against a seaplane base at Truk Atoll. The pilot pulled the airplane out of the strike, and Japanese aircraft were firing at it. His aircraft was never found.

Farmer was married, and he never had an opportunity to meet his daughter, who was born while he was serving overseas.
