DescriptionPhotograph, Black and white; Horizontal image of James Grove, on the left side of the image, in a boxing match on the hangar deck of USS Intrepid. The boxing match was part of a smoker in 1972. Grove, who has light skin and medium hair, is wearing white boxing shorts with a stripe down the side, boxing gloves and sneakers. The man he is boxing is wearing white shorts, gloves, and sneakers. This boxer also has light skin and medium hair. Crewmembers are sitting and standing around the ring. The ring itself has a tarp laid down, and there are three ropes around the ring. A referee is just visible behind the boxers. There is a white border around the image. The donor had previously circled his head with a yellow highlighter that is still partially visible.
