DescriptionPhotograph, Black and white; Official horizontal aerial image of the aftermath of an aerial direct hit to the Japanese air base on Ie Island. There is smoke coming from several explosions on ground near the runways on the air base. There is a TBF Avenger with USS Intrepid tail markings at the top right of the image. "83" can be seen on the aircraft's tail. The ocean can be seen in the background.
