DescriptionMug; Silver pewter mug with a single silver handle and glass bottom. The stein has a round base and the body tapers slightly inward toward the top. A black plastic or faux leather covering is wrapped around the body of the vessel and is secured with Velcro on the back near the handle. The strap has thin red stripes at the top and bottom edges and has a circular cutout on one side. One side of the stein has a raised silver circular insignia design representing Antisubmarine Warfare Group 4. Intrepid was flagship of that ASW group, with Rear Admiral George Cassell embarked. Around the outside of the insignia are two banners, one above and the other below, with foliage imagery on either side. Engraved text on the banners reads "USS Intrepid // CVS-11". In the center is a gold disc that has a teal upside-down triangle with orange edges. In the center is an orange "4" with two small gold stars below and a black and gold eagle with outstretched wings that carries a banner in its beak that reads "COM // ASW // GRU". Engraved text above the strap on the face of the mug with the insignia design reads "NCS W. M. Sartain, USN". Engraved stamps on the underside of the base reads "Jostens" and "Made // in // Sheffield // English // Pewter // England".On View
