BiographyWillard C. Zimmerman is a former naval aviator who flew from the aircraft carrier USS Intrepid (CVA-11) from 1965 until 1966, during the ship's first deployment to the Gulf of Tonkin during the Vietnam War. Zimmerman served with attack squadron VA-176 and flew A-1 Skyraiders. During his time on Intrepid, he held the rank of lieutenant commander. Zimmerman served in the Navy from 1953 until 1983, retiring as a commander. His recollections have been recorded as part of the Intrepid Museum's oral history project (OHP 053).
