DescriptionU.S. Navy flight suit (a) with nametag (b).

a) Suit, flier’s; U.S. Navy green summer flight suit with central metal zipper and tall collar. There is a pocket on either side of the chest with a button flap closure and single brown plastic button in the center. At either side of the waist there are triangular flaps that attach to two brown plastic buttons to cinch the waist. On either side of the top of the legs, the suit has access pockets to the interior that are closed with a brown plastic button. The suit has three pockets on each side of the lower portion of the legs. The front of each leg has a zippered pocket with vertical access and below that a button flap pocket with horizontal access and brown plastic button. On the lower back of each leg there is a zippered pocket with horizontal access. The proper left arm has a horizontal rectangular pocket to hold six writing implements. The interior back collar has a green fabric hanging loop. On the interior front proper left chest is a black fabric label with gold thread text that reads “Suits – flying – nylon – lightweight // Bu – areo – U.S. Navy // Willis & Geiger, Inc. // Contract No. a(s)3926 // size 44 short“. A white fabric label has been attached to the interior front proper right chest that has black thread text that reads “Washing instructions // 1. Wash with mild soap and // lukewarm water – not over 120° // 2/ use warm to cool iron - // not over 275°F“.

b) Nametag; Rectangular black nametag that has image of U.S. Navy aviator wings on the center top. Gold text centered below the insignia reads “C.P. Amerman // USNR”. The insignia depicts an anchor in the center with a shield over top and outstretched eagle wings on either side. The nametag was found in the proper left chest pocket of the flight suit (a).
