DescriptionUniform, Military; U.S. Navy WAVES officer blue service jacket or coat. The single-breasted jacket has two flap closure pockets at the chest on either side of the opening. A ribbon bar is pinned to the proper right pocket flap. The bar has two ribbons: the American Campaign Medal ribbon and the World War II Victory Medal ribbon. There are four gold buttons down the front, each with an image of an eagle grasping a fouled anchor in its talons and stars encircling the edge. At the cuff of each sleeve, there are two light blue stripes beneath a silver five-pointed star. The stripes signify that the wearer, Harriet Pickens, was a lieutenant. The collar has a rounded tab above each lapel. Each tab has a circular navy blue patch with a gold image of a fouled anchor and rope imposed over a silver propeller. A fabric label at the interior back of the collar reads “Harriet L Pickens.” On the interior proper left side of the jacket, there is a white fabric label attached to an interior pocket. The label has an image of a fouled anchor imposed over a propeller with blue text that reads “Made and sold under // Authority of U.S. Navy // W.A.V.E.S.” Inside the interior pocket on the proper left side of the jacket is a fabric patch with text that reads "WAVES // Name:____ // Rate:____ // Contract No. 122" with stamp "Size 16R."On View
