DescriptionMedal; Air Medal (b) with ribbon bar pin (c) and lapel pin (d) in box (a).a) Box; Award box for Air Medal (b), ribbon bar pin (c) and lapel pin (d). Rectangular box with top vertical opening. Exterior is black with two gold waved decorative lines around the top exterior edges. Inner line has small floral bouquets in each corner. The cover of the box has “Air Medal” in gold lettering in the center. The sides of the box have gold dot and line decorations around the entire edge. The gold waved line decoration is around the interior edges of the box. Interior of box is lined with yellow satin on cover and yellow velvet on base. There is ‘u’ shaped hook at top center for the medal to be attached in the box.
b) Medal; Air Medal. The bronze medal is in the shape of a sixteen point compass rose and is suspended by a fleur-de-lis. The front depicts a diving eagle carrying a lightning bolt in each talon. The back of the medal is blank with space for engraving the recipient's name. The medal hangs from a blue ribbon with two orange stripes and has broach back bar pin.
c) Bar, Ribbon; Air Medal ribbon. The ribbon is blue with orange stripes on either edge. It is mounted on a broach back bar pin.
d) Pin, Lapel; Distinguished Flying Cross lapel pin. The pin is gold with a center bar that has blue enamel with orange stripes on either edge. The pin has a round gold base.
