DescriptionPhotograph, Black and white; Photograph (a), manila envelope (b), and negative (c).a) Photograph - official vertical image of the silhouette of a sailor in a jumper and a "Dixie cup" hat taking a photograph of the exterior of the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem. The sailor is standing between pillars supporting arches in a courtyard. There are two other sailors standing in front of the photographer. There are two statues on the exterior of the church. There is a black border on the top and right sides. The bottom border has "11" and "Ansco Super Hypan" printed backwards.
b) Envelope - provides documentary information for the photograph. The following information is provided, “Unit CVA-11”, “Date Taken 10-13-60”, “By Osburn”, “Neg. Size 4x5”, and “Classification NON”. The description of the enclosed photograph is, “Taking photographs of // the church built upon the // place where Christ was // born. Bethlehem, Jordan.”
c) Negative - transparent black and white image of the silhouette of a sailor in a jumper and a "Dixie cup" hat taking a photograph of the exterior of the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem. The image is the same as the photograph (a).
