BiographyArthur E. Gardner served on board the aircraft carrier USS Intrepid (CV-11) in World War II from September 12, 1943 to April 11, 1944 as a fireman first class, F1. After leaving Intrepid, he served on two destroyers. He was discharged from the Navy in November 1945. Gardner went on to be a machinist, a pilot, and made parts for Apollo II. He passed away in 1993.
