DescriptionPhotograph, Black and white; Square, official, aerial image looking down on Kwajalein Island (Porcelain Island) in the Marshall Islands. Image shows a long piece of land coming down vertically from the top of the image. Trees, roads and buildings are visible on the island. A long pier protrudes towards the right side of the image and disappears behind a cloud. A wave is coming in on the left side. An airplane wing is in the bottom right corner of the image. Typed at the top of the image is, “INT 7 1-30-44 0015 GCT 8.25” 2000 Porcelain conf.” A handwritten “78” is in the lower, left corner and a blurry clock face is in the lower right. There is a black border around the image, and there are tabs in the center of each edge. The back has "Official photograph // not to be used for publication // by order of // the Chief of the Bureau // of Aeronautics" in black ink.On View
