DescriptionPhotograph, Black and white; Horizontal image of two young, light-skinned girls in a doorway. The girl on the left is wearing a striped dress and a dark jacket. She has her hands raised to her face to make a funny face. The girl on the right has her arms at her side and is wearing a white shirt, floral skirt, and a headband. There is a white border around the image and the right and left edges are scalloped. The back has “901G23 Polaroid”, “47”, and “5” stamped in black.Description from accompanying letter dated October 12, 1957 reads “The picture of the 2 8-year-old girls was taken in the door of my apartment just as they are leaving. I had told them that I was going to take their picture and they secretly, they thought, made plans to make a face when I took the picture. I took the picture purposely before the girl on the right could do this and she got angry with me because of this. We’re friends again though.”
