DescriptionPhotograph, Black and white; Horizontal image of Pierce Yarrell "PY" Matthews Jr. and a light-skinned woman in a train station. The woman has on a dark coat and a dark hat. Matthews, who has light skin, is wearing a light colored overcoat and tie. The photograph has a discoloration on the right. There is a white border around the image and the left and right borders are scalloped. The back has “New Year’s Day 1962 // In the Haupbanhof of Stuttgart, Ger.” written in black ink and “H176211 Polaroid”, “47”, and “6” stamped in black and blue.Description from accompanying letter dated January 6, 1962 reads “The other two pictures were taken in the Haupbanhof (train station) just before my departure for Napoli. As you can see one got packed before the coating dried. So. Of course. These are all copies by the way.”
