DescriptionPhotograph, Black and white; Vertical image of crew members preparing for a highline transfer of personnel. Two sailors sit in the back-to-back chair, known as a highline chair, boatswain's chair or bosun's chair. The white chair has coxcombing on the frame. The enlisted man in the chair who is facing the camera wears a dress blue jumper, trousers and white "Dixie cup" hat. He has light skin and a broad smile on his face. There is a crew member in dungarees kneeling in front of the man in the chair, either fastening or unfastening him. The kneeling man is wearing a life jacket and has a sheathed knife on his belt. There are two other crew members in dungarees, life jackets and baseball caps steading the chair. The highline chair is double sided, but the person in the other seat is not visible from this angle. The lines and pulleys used to move the chair are visible above the seat.On View
