DescriptionPhotograph, Color; Personal, square image of three flight deck personnel refueling a fuel tank mounted on the underside of the wing of a Douglas A-4 Skyhawk on USS Intrepid. The plane is from VA-36 and has the Road Runner insignia painted on it. All the men have light skin and are wearing dungarees and purple long-sleeved shirts and vests. The two, shorter crew members are looking at the camera and smiling. The man on the left is wearing a red flight deck helmet, raised goggles, and earmuffs. The third, taller man is standing behind them, looking down at the refueling hose. The open water behind the plane, off the edge of the flight deck, is calm. There is a white border around the image and the right edge is stamped, “May 68”.On View
