DescriptionPhotograph, Black and white; Vertical image of a man seated in a chair and a woman standing next to him. The light-skinned man is wearing a suit and holding a hat in his hand. The light-skinned woman is wearing a dark suit. A painting is over the man and there are curtains on either side of the framed picture. A dining room is in another room on the right. There is a white border around the image and the top and bottom borders are scalloped. The back has “31 Dec 1961 // Lt. Gen. + Mrs. J.C. Oakes // Stuttgart, Germany” written in black ink and “Polaroid”, “47”, and “1” stamped in black and blue.Description from accompanying letter dated January 6, 1962 reads “Also enclosed is a picture of LT Gen Oakes, Commanding General of the U.S. VII Army Corps with HdQtrs in Stuttgart, Germany.”
