DescriptionPhotograph, Black and white; Horizontal image of a Grumman C-1 Trader taxiing down the flight deck. “USS // Intrepid” is stenciled on the vertical stabilizer, and the plane is numbered, “?19”. A member of the flight deck crew with “AG // Officer” is guiding the plane down the deck. The plane has just released from an arresting cable, and it is visible, slack, behind the aircraft. The airplane's propellers are still spinning. There are other flight deck personnel in long sleeve shirts, safety helmets and earmuffs standing around the deck. Most of the people have their backs to the camera. The optical landing system (OLS), also known as the meatball, is visible on the right side of the image. The nose of a Douglas A-4 Skyhawk is in the foreground on the left. The plane is numbered, “508”. There is a white border around the image. On View
