DescriptionCap, Service; U.S. Navy combination cap with black visor. The detachable fabric cover of the hat is drab green and the underside of the visor is green. On the front of the black cap band is an officer cap device consisting of a silver federal shield over two gold crossed fouled anchors, surmounted by a silver eagle. The shield has thirteen stars across the top and vertical stripes below. A gold fabric chin strap is attached to the hat band along the top edge of the visor with a small gold retaining button on either side. The buttons have a relief design featuring an eagle with outstretched wings grasping an anchor and stars around the outer edge. The interior sweat band is brown leather with a brown fabric bow at the center back. Along the forehead of the band is a circular pattern of large holes surrounded by smaller ones punched in leather to allow for air flow. Silver imprint on proper left side of sweatband reads “Style // 305”. The interior lining is black. A yellow strip of fabric is attached to the front and back interior of the hat. A label covered in plastic is stitched to the fabric and reads “Abbott Military Tailors Inc. // Jacksonville – Pensacola // home office // 1020 W. Pratt St. // Baltimore, MD”. In between the words is an image of an eagle with outstretched wings above a crossed sword and needle and thread with three stars on either side.
