DescriptionCap, Service; U.S. Navy combination cap with black visor. The detachable fabric cover of the hat is dark blue. On the front of the black cap band is an officer cap device consisting of a silver federal shield over two gold crossed fouled anchors, surmounted by a silver eagle. The shield has thirteen stars across the top and vertical stripes below. A gold fabric chin strap is attached to the hat band along the top edge of the visor with a small gold retaining button on either side. The buttons have a relief design featuring an eagle with outstretched wings grasping an anchor and stars around the outer edge. The interior sweat band is brown leather with diagonal lines of five holes for air flow punched around the majority of the band. The interior lining is black. A yellow strip of fabric is attached to the front and back interior of the hat. A label covered in plastic is stitched to the fabric and reads “Abbott Military Tailors Inc. // Pensacola … Jacksonville”. In between the words is an image of an eagle with outstretched wings above a crossed sword and needle and thread with three stars on either side. Below the label is a brown paper name tag that is partially encapsulated by plastic label that reads “Forrest E. Masters”. There is text imprinted on the proper left side of the sweatband on that reads “HYR // Navy”.
