DescriptionPhotograph, Black and white; Personal horizontal image of a crew member adjusting a valve wheel in one of the fire rooms (boiler rooms) on USS Intrepid. The sailor has dark hair and light skin, and he is wearing a U.S. Navy chambray work shirt. Both of the man’s hands are resting on a very large valve wheel. Pipes insulated with asbestos lagging are visible above and on the left of the sailor. There is a white border on the image with “Sep 67” printed in black ink. Back has “21” handwritten in blue ink and a repeating watermark which reads “A Kodak Paper.”
